Clarendon Business Centre
Zen Room – Interactive Meditation Space
Solution to Support Mental Health and Wellbeing
You would be forgiven for thinking you have stepped into a luxury, 5 star hotel when you arrive on the first floor of Ealing Cross to the Clarendon Business Centres. The business hub comprises of more than 47 separate furnished office spaces, 3 meeting rooms and a dedicated member’s business lounge, known as The Dock Club.
The Dock Club has plenty of luxurious seating, private meeting pods, complimentary newspapers, daily breakfasts and an open bar every Thursday and Friday from 3.30pm. It’s a fantastic space to do business from.
Keeley Fox Interior Design was approached by Clarendon Business Centres to turn a standard looking office space in to an thriving environment that would capture the imagination of both visitors and clients alike.
As part of this conceptual space, Keeley Fox and Clarendon Business Centre’s were seeking a digital solution for a meditation space that would allow people to take time to focus on and improve their mental health and wellbeing. This is when they approached Eclipse Digital Media to assist in delivering the solution for a ‘Zen Room’.
Eclipse Digital Media were delighted to be involved in such a purposeful project, with many of our staff understanding the importance and benefits of meditation and some who practice regularly. The Zen Room solution included three elements. 1) A non-interactive 10″ POE Samsung Smart Signage Display mounted in a custom enclosure outside the Zen Room. 2) A touch interactive, commercial grade, AOPEN 10″ Chromebase Mini mounted inside the Zen Room for users to configure their sessions. 3) embed signage – the cloud based digital signage software to deliver the content.
Both hardware products provide 24/7 commercial grade quality. The 10″ touch tablet runs ChromeOS and delivers an exceptional smooth experience for the user.
Keeley Fox had provided a brief of the concept and tasked Eclipse Digital with the design. First Eclipse Digital took care of wireframing the touch solution (UI), ensuring all functionality met the client’s need.
Once signed off, Eclipse Digital progressed to the Design phase. Taking inspiration from colour and image psychology studies, the design highlighted the key user interactions while maintaining an overall impact of calm and relaxation.
Finally, with the design and functionality signed off, Eclipse Digital progressed to developing the solution and testing before deployment.
The functionality of the solution includes a touch interface inside the Zen Room where a user can set a timer for their session. Once the session begins, the timer begins counting down with audio cues to announce the time remaining at set intervals. Finally once the session is complete, a chime is sounded and the device returns to an available state to start a new session. When the room is available, the outside screen will display a welcome message to show it’s available. When a session is underway, the touch UI triggers a timer and the ‘booked’ status on a device outside of the room.
Eclipse Digital installed the solution on site including the design and development of the 10″ outside screen enclosure to keep in line with the high level interior design of The Dock Club.

Kings Place is an independently-funded arts and conference venue in the heart of Kings Cross. Their programme is as diverse, engaging and innovative as the city it’s based in. Kings Place provide a diverse offering of music, spoken word, festivals, comedy and visual art.
Eclipse Digital Media began working with Kings Place in 2014, where the initial requirement was to migrate from an existing digital signage platform to a new, technically strong and feature rich platform. Over a period of ongoing consultation consisting of various on site meetings, product demonstrations and phone calls, Kings Place were able to identify their digital signage requirements clearly and outline exactly what was most important to them in terms of the new system and display solutions.
Kings Place required an on-premise signage solution with the ability to support live network broadcast streams from events. They also wanted a ‘big impact’ signage solution for their reception space to replace the manual wooden boards.
After a consultation period and various product demonstrations and evaluations, Eclipse Digital Media helped Kings Place to settle on using a ONELAN digital signage system.
This system includes an on-premise Content Management Server (CMS) along with a number of Subscriber NTBs some of which include stream-in licenses to decode and display UDP streams broadcast on the Kings Place network.
The subscribers are connected to various displays around the building utilising the existing screen hardware available.
Initially Kings Place specified a video wall requirement for the Reception area to deliver their ‘big impact’. With the dimensions available and desire for making a maximum impact to visitors, Eclipse Digital spent time proposing a variety of video wall solutions along side an LED Narrow Pixel Pitch Video Wall.
To help convince Kings Place LED was the right product for them, Eclipse Digital worked with PSCo to arrange an on site demonstration day where a 3.2mm and 2.4mm pixel pitch Absen LED panels were set up and Kings Place staff were invited to view and examine in detail. After this demo day, Kings Place agreed LED was exactly the right product and opted for the 2.4mm pixel pitch LED panels.
The solution installed was 30 Absen N2 panels covering 2.8m x 1.73m and offering a resolution of 1200 x720. This was installed with a bespoke mount and side framework, along with a light sensor to automatically modulate the brightness of the LED.
Eclipse Digital Media installed all the controllers, remote management computer, digital signage player and light sensor kit within a wall mounted data cabinet in an alcove area behind reception. Eclipse Digital Media also manufactured and installed the alcove door system with integrated light sensor.

apetito
Customer Visitor Centre
“Our customer centre was focused around bringing to life the apetito experience and our brand values, taking customers on a journey from farm to fork… the use of technology as an enabler has taken our customer visits to the next level, receiving amazing feedback from customers”
Dan Southall – Digital Manager, apetito

apetito are the leading food producer for the health and social care sector. Based in Trowbridge, Wiltshire, apetito produces great-tasting, nutritious meals for care homes, hospitals and community services across the UK and in Germany, Spain, the Netherlands and Canada.
apetito are also the parent company of Wiltshire Farm Foods, the UK’s premier home-delivery service for ready-made meals.
apetito approached Eclipse Digital Media with a view to explore and implement digital technologies to enhance the visitor experience for their customers. Eclipse Digital met with apetito on several occasions to explore their ideas, present new concepts and architect the solutions required to meet their needs.
“Our customer centre was focused around bringing to life the apetito experience and our brand values, taking customers on a journey from farm to fork. The digital signage throughout the visitor centre was commissioned to help increase Engagement with key messages at key points in the centre”
Dan Southall – Digital Manager, apetito
Working with apetito from start to finish on the digital transformation, Eclipse Digital delivered a complete digital experience using a variety of technology.
apetito wanted key areas of their visitor centre to offer different customer experiences and therefore required different technologies to be combined. The key areas were: reception, customer waiting area, farmers market, boardroom, kitchen and dining room.
What was provided was the full solution including consultation, hardware, software, installation, content, support and maintenance.
As the saying goes, first impressions count. This critical area needed to provide a first impression of a forward thinking brand while achieving practical purpose. Behind the main reception desk sits a Samsung Tizen SoC display which runs latest news, time , date, weather content along side any special welcome messages for guests.
Once the guests are signed in and waiting for their host, there is a waiting area with free drinks and snacks. There is a table with four iPads which has buttons to activate various websites all restricted to specific domains using the Whitelist Browser plugin for embed signage. Also in this area sits another Samsung Tizen SoC display which alongside the latest news, time, date and weather there is an area where a Freeview TV feed is displayed. This is done using the Source Input widget for embed signage.
apetito wanted to give customers a real hands on experience and opted for a 55″ ViewSonic touch screen which runs content where customers can browse apetito’s supplier chain.
Making this area even more hands on and immersive is the use of RFID Place and Learn technology. Using an Intel NUC PC, RFID sensors and tags and the embed signage RS232 plugin, various produce can be picked up from the shelving or crates and placed on the shelf below the touch screen to activate content related to the produce.
The 55″ Viewsonic touch screen with Windows OPS slot in PC runs content that is pulled directly from apetito’s Product API via JSON. Using the Dynamic Data plugin for embed signage, apetito’s produce api JSON feed has been configured to allow any field of data to be used within the embed signage layout builder. From here, Eclipse Digital Media built the touch screen content where users can browse the products apetito offer via categories. apetito also have the ability to specify which products are shown / excluded by entering the relevant product codes to appear for the relevant categories. There is also an section which shows ‘Today’s Menu’ which also links through to the products nutritional information pulled from the same feed.
In the visitor centre boardroom, installed at the head of the room is an 86″ Viewsonic touch screen with slot in PC on a BTECH pop out bracket. This touchscreen is the perfect technology for apetito who regularly use the built in white board features when holding meetings with clients. The screen also has Barco Clickshare attached to allow users to wirelessly present from their device to the display.
Providing the wow-factor in the dining room are two video walls configured in 3×3 and 4×3. These video walls saturate the room with apetito’s vibrant content which is used to create a ‘real-world’ effect for the visitors. By changing the content to match various environments and the type of customer, visitors are forgiven for thinking they are dining on the busy sun-soaked streets of Barcelona rather than apetito’s Trowbridge HQ.
The video walls are also multi purpose, being used for presentations which are wirelessly presented from devices using Clickshare.
The video walls make use of Philips 55″ commercial 3.5mm bezel to bezel panels, iBase commercial media players and BTECH pop-out brackets giving a beautiful and practical video wall solution.
Using the device interactions plugin for embed signage, apetito have created a touch layout which is used to activate various content on any screen within the visitor centre. The apetito host uses the ‘Host App’ layout on an iPad Pro to trigger the content to match. The host app layout and commands sent to devices to change content is all managed and updated using embed signage.
z
In some of the key areas, audio was an essential part of the overall experience to fully immerse the customers. Using JBL pendant speakers or ceiling mounted speakers and apart rack mounted amplifiers, various inputs are taken in from the video walls, farmers market screen, customer waiting area and boardroom and resonated through to the applicable areas.
apetito use embed signage to run content across the entire visitor centre. The software allows apetito to combine various technology, operating systems and platforms to deliver a unified customer experience. Using the standard features allows apetito to build touch content and playlist of multiple media types including widgets very easily. Then by using embed signage’s suite of plugins they can perform specific task such as the secure browser iPads, RFID / RS232 place and learn, JSON Product API feed touch layout and iPad host app to trigger content on any screen.
